Technical Manager, Forestry
Bety Zavariz is a climate policy professional with more than twelve years of experience in sustainability and climate mitigation, including eight years in the voluntary carbon market. Her work has focused on carbon offset project development for nature-based solutions, as well as verification, methodology development, and program operations. She has worked across forests, grasslands, soil carbon, and other land-based climate solutions, with a particular interest in making GHG accounting systems credible, practical, and useful for decision-making.
Beatriz previously worked at the Climate Action Reserve, where she supported the development and implementation of high-quality carbon offset protocols and provided technical guidance to project developers and verification bodies. She later led carbon offset project development at Manulife Investment Management, focused on IFM in North America. Most recently, she served as a contract auditor at SCS Global where she verified IFM and grassland avoided conversion projects.
She holds a Master of Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in her native country of Mexico.
